90th Stakes winner for Kingman
Kingman's daughter, Flaming Stone, blazed the field in the Listed Prix La Camargo at Saint-Cloud on Sunday (16th March) to become his 90th Stakes winner worldwide.
Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 17th March 2025:
The Listed Prix La Camargo, run over 1600m at Saint-Cloud yesterday was won by Flaming Stone, trained by Henri-Francois Devin and owned by Juddmonte. The three-year-old daughter of Kingman broke from stall four and was settled in midfield by Alexis Pouchin as the early pace was set by Ollie Sangster’s Glamis Road. The eight-runner field began to bunch up rounding the final bend and Flaming Stone was pulled out wide to come with her challenge.
She began to quicken at the 200m mark and picked up the Wertheimer and Frere-homebred Iron Bird during the closing stages, where she beat her two lengths into second. Glamis Road was a further two lengths back in third.
A 425,000gns purchase at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, she now has two victories to her name, though yesterday’s contest was her first at stakes level. Originally trained by Andrew Balding, she was fourth on her debut before returning the
following month to win a novice contest at Newmarket by four lengths. She was then placed third in the Listed Star Stakes at Sandown and fourth behind Lake Victoria (Frankel) in the Gr.3 Sweet Solera Stakes.
She is a half-sister to the Gr.2 Premio Lydia Tesio heroine and Italian Champion Three-Year-Old Angel Power, out of the Aussie Rules mare Burning Rules, a half-sister to the Gr.3 Killavulla Stakes winner Blue De Vega (Lope De Vega).
