Kingman's Quddwah shines in Zabeel Mile
Kingman's Quddwah stalked and pounced to take the Gr.2 Zabeel Mile at Meydan on Friday.
Taken from the Thoroughbred Daily News, 3rd January 2026.
He was never too far off the leader Audience (Iffraaj) down the backstretch, and was in a freewheeling fourth with a pair of Shadwell runners separating him and the 2024 Gr.1 Lockinge Stakes hero. Edging closer by the quarter-mile marker, he ground past a stubborn Audience in late stretch to win by one and a quarter lengths over the rallying Aomori City (Oasis Dream). Audience hung on for third.
"It was quite a sweet race to ride in. I had a load of space to go when I wanted which was nice," said jockey James Doyle, who also won this race in 2020 on Zakouski.
"He's been very consistent over the years and gets his head in front when he needs to. It's been a while since I've ridden him, I won on him first time and we were quite sweet on him then too."
A winner of the Gr. 2 Summer Mile in 2024 and Chantilly's Gr.3 Prix Messidor last July, Quddwah was second in the Gr.2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein two starts later and never factored in the Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on QIPCO British Champions Day in October. Friday was his first start back.
Quddwah is one of 107 stakes winners, 61 group/graded, by his Juddmonte sire Kingman. He is bred on the same Kingman - King's Best cross as multiple group winner Headman. The last reported foal for his dam, a champion in the UAE with wins in the Gr.1 Dubai Duty Free and Gr.1 Jebel Hatta to her credit, the six-year-old entire is a half-brother to the dam of Listed Prix Saraca heroine and Gr.3 Horris Hill Stakes second Yaroogh (Dubawi).
